35th Anniversary of the MSC

The Multicultural Student Center was founded in 1988 to support the academic life of students of color at UW-Madison. For the past 35 years, we have served as a home away from home for students of color, providing spaces, programs and services where diverse and intersectional identities are centered, affirmed and celebrated.

Today, the MSC includes nine staff members and four identity centers: the Black Cultural Center (2017), APIDA Student Center (2019), Latinx Cultural Center (2019) and Indigenous Student Center (2021). We are a hub for multicultural student organizations and the convener of campus-wide heritage and history months, as well as yearlong programming that honors our identities and experiences.

Join us as we celebrate our rich history and prepare for a brighter future!

Fundraising Campaign

On 4/4/24, the MSC launched a $50,000 fundraising campaign. Donations to the MSC Fund will support our food insecurity initiative, allowing us to supplement and enrich the basic offerings we already receive from the campus food pantry with cultural foods and kitchen staples, such as flour, oil, rice, and beans. You can also donate to any of our four identity center funds. All donors who make a gift will receive a limited edition MSC 35th anniversary lapel pin while supplies last.

Day of the Badger

The annual fundraiser Day of the Badger (April 16-17) was a huge success! The MSC matched the first $2,500 in contributions by the Student Affairs Board of Visitors. Nearly 50 gifts were given, raising $6,035!

Mini Terrace Chair

We are thrilled to have been selected as this year’s partner on the Wisconsin Union’s iconic Mini Terrace Chair. Proceeds from sales of the MSC Mini Chairs will benefit our food insecurity initiative.
