Sheltreese McCoy

Position title: Crossroads Coordinator


Sheltreese McCoy serves as the Social Justice Educator and Crossroads Initiative Coordinator. Previously Sheltreese served as Coordinator of the Recruitment Initiative for Student Employees (R.I.S.E.) here at UW Madison. Sheltreese also served as the Multicultural Issues Director at the United Council of UW Students, one of the oldest student advocacy non-profit organizations in the country. Sheltreese has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally on topics related to queer and transgender people of color, social justice and inclusion, intersections of race, gender, class, & sexual orientation, and campus climate. Sheltreese’s deep and personal understanding of marginalized identities and Intersectionality has led her to become a scholar in higher education, trainer and advocate as well as a strategic development consultant. Sheltreese received a master’s in educational leadership and policy analysis (ELPA) from UW Madison, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology and ethnic studies from Bowling Green State University. She is currently pursuing her PhD. in ELPA with a focus on queer and trans people of color in higher education.
