History and Heritage months are periods within the year that are designated to celebrate and acknowledge cultural and marginalized groups. These are times not only to celebrate, but also to educate others on various groups’ histories and contributions to our shared history.
Campus Calendar of History and Heritage Months
The MSC and its four Identity Centers celebrate and organize programming for five History/Heritage Months throughout the academic year. Not all campus celebrations align with the federally designated months. This is done intentionally so History/Heritage Months that occur during the summer semester are celebrated when more students are present during the spring. Each of the month’s theme, events, and graphics are created by student-led planning committees, which are advised by a professional MSC staff member.
