Hmong American Student Association
HASA is the acronym for the Hmong American Student Association at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
We are a non-profit student organization open to all students. HASA was established to promote higher
education, serve as a bridge between students, community leaders, and scholars within the Hmong
community and the broader American community, address the concerns and needs of students and the
Hmong community, provide leadership opportunities for aspiring students, serve as a channel to
develop, display, and recognize the talents and creativity of the student organization for the
Hmong community.
Each year, HASA holds several activities including a Freshman Ice Cream Social, Fall Picnic,
Halloween Party, Thanksgiving Potluck, Valentine Dance, Conference, Spring Picnic, Graduation
Reception, and more. In addition, HASA members are given the opportunity to attend conferences
across the country. Recently, a Hmong class was started to give HASA members a chance to learn
the Hmong language or just to brush up on their Hmong.
