Asian American Student Union

AASU’s kick off in September 2012.

The Asian American Student Union (AASU) is dedicated to addressing critical issues facing the APIA (Asian/Pacific Islander American) community at UW. They do this through supporting the Asian American Studies Program, bringing APIA organizations together with bold programming, expanding APIA visibility on campus, creating a safe space and community for those who identify as Asian Pacific American and allies, and providing social and educational events for both members and non-members

AASU members have opportunities to discuss and understand identities, cultivate leadership skills, and develop a sense of community. Their workshops include “Asian American Sexuality,” “Asian Americans in the Media,” and also a “Yellow Power and Brown Power Movements” workshop in collaboration with MEChA. For the last week of April, AASU hosts a weeklong series of events for Asian American Awareness Week.
