Greetings from the Multicultural Student Center (MSC)!
The Multicultural Orientation Reception (MCOR) Cultural Entertainment Subcommittee is seeking interested, talented and highly motivated students to participate in our annual cultural performance showcase.
This year marks the 27th Anniversary of the greatest cultural showcase on the UW-Madison campus. MCOR will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008, from 7:00pm-1:00am, in Memorial Union. The Multicultural Orientation Reception annual event welcomes new and returning students of color to the UW-Madison campus. MCOR celebrates and showcases the cultural fabric of the University community, a rich diverse culture rooted in social change, which highlights the positive portrayal of UW-Madison’s ethnic cultural communities.
Open call cultural performances for UW-Madison’s students can range from singing, dancing, spoken word, poetry, just to name a few. The selected students or groups will each receive $300.00 for their participation as well as an opportunity to perform in front of the University community. After all auditions have concluded, the subcommittee will select five ethnic cultural groups to perform at this year’s cultural celebration along with selecting five alternate groups to fill in, in case of an emergency.
Interested students or groups are encouraged to print out, complete and submit their applications for the open call auditions to the Multicultural Student Center no later than 7:00pm, Friday, May 2, 2008. Auditions for the cultural performances will be held on the UW-Madison campus from Monday, May 5, 2008 to Friday, May 9, 2008, in the MSC Lounge, Red Gym, 2lf.
In addition, potential performers must select and sign up for a fifteen minute audition on one of the selected dates and times, all sign up sheets will be posted at the MSC Front Desk, or performers can also email/mail in to the MSC an audition tape to be reviewed and considered.
