Location:  Escape Java Joint, 916 Williamson St., Madison
Contact:  608-257-6050
Website:  N/A
Description
As part of Madison's annual May Day celebration, Rainbow Bookstore, in
cooperation with the Madison May Day Committee and the Progressive Magazine,
will be bringing poet extraordinaire Martin Espada back to town on May 3rd!

Coming off an appearance on the PBS's Walt Whitman documentary, and on a
short Midwest junket in part to promote his latest collection, Republic of
Poetry, Martin called to tell us that he really wanted to do something in
Madison, his old stomping ground, around May Day.

Welcoming Espada and also reading will be Madison's recently-appointed poet
laureate, Fabu Mogaka. And leading off the evening will be the local poetic
word wizards, Chicano voice Eric
Mata and spoken word talent Josh Healey.

That's at the Escape Java Joint, 916 Willy Street, on Saturday, May 3rd,
jumping off at
7:00pm.

Free and open to the public, with part of the proceeds from books sale and
donations going to the John Tuschen Memorial Fund of the Madison Community
Foundation
