This reception welcomes new and returning students of color to campus with a campus resource fair, performance showcase, multicultural student organization fair, and dance.
Multicultural Leadership Summit (MLS): This is an annual weekend retreat for MSC student organization leaders that focuses on preparing them to effectively handle the personal and professional demands that fall on organizational leaders during the academic school year. MLS supports the individual development of leaders who represent organizational affiliated with the MSC; prepares MSC affiliated organizations for successful programming and operations for the school year; develops positive working relationships between and among MSC organizations and MSC staff; and encourages coalition-building among MSC affiliated organizations.
Multicultural Leadership Awards (MLA): The Multicultural Leadership Awards and Graduation Reception recognizes the contributions and achievements made by student leaders, organizations, faculty, staff, and alumni all across campus and in the community. In addition, we honor the accomplishments of graduating students of color and allies.
Institute for Justice Education and Transformation (IJET): The Institute for Justice Education and Transformation is an initiative of the Multicultural Student Center that provides and supports campus-wide opportunities for deep reflection and action around issues of Social Justice for Multicultural Students and their allies.
Student Life Internship: Our student internship program provides professional development opportunities for students interested in leadership and involvement, Greek affairs, social justice, and communications. We typically hire 10-12 student interns around mid-August.
Crossroads: A community for LGBTQ students of color, the Crossroads Initiative is a “Uniquely Wisconsin” approach to addressing the intersectional realities of our student’s lives. This initiative bridges the work of both the MSC and the LGBT Campus Center to address the needs of students living in the intersections of race, sexuality, gender, and other layers of identity.
Nacho Average Wednesday: Every other Wednesday, the MSC hosts a social event for students, faculty, and staff. Stop by the MSC Lounge (Red Gym, Second Floor) to make your nachos, play games, and hang out. Nacho fixings provided!
